All of these books were read for my American Lit class in 12th grade. I hated most of them, it was like a semester of white people and men are evil lit. To this day I think the Bluest Eye was the worst offender, and the extreme white liberal guilt at my high school made it all the worse. It was also one of those deals where the teacher kept saying 'All you are going to read in college is dead white males, so here we are going to read about women and people of color". Manchild and The Woman Warrior were the best of the bunch and have stayed with me lot and would rank in the top ten books I read in 1991.
